Black-headed Gull

This is a male - you can tell by the blue base to its beak. Females have a pink base to the beak.

Blackbird

It's hard work for her and it's cold and raining.





Blackcap

Only the adult males have a black cap, females and juvenile birds have a brown one.





Goldcrest

The Goldcrest is Britain's smallest bird.





Red Kite

The Red Kite is one of Britain's biggest birds with a wingspan of nearly two metres (six feet). It is a scavenger, soaring around looking for carrion, and quietly eating lots of worms and beetles on the ground.
It was nearly extinct in Britain but has been successfully re-introduced and we now we have several pairs nesting in Bedfordshire.
