A Red Kite over St Mary's Way, Linslade, 3 January 2021. The Red Kite is one of Britain's biggest birds with a wingspan of nearly two metres (six feet). It is a scavenger, soaring around looking for carrion, and quietly eating lots of worms and beetles on the ground. It was nearly extinct in Britain but has been successfully re-introduced and we now we have several pairs nesting in Bedfordshire. |
