Field Vole
A Field Vole in our garden, collecting grass for its nest, Alwins Field, 8 January 2020. (You can tell it's not a mouse by its small ears and small eyes. It's a Field Vole, not a Bank Vole owing to its short tail, which you can't see in this photo.) See short video by clicking here.

Ground Ivy
Ground Ivy in flower on the Alwins Field allotments, 6 January 2020.

Springtail - Dicyrtomina saundersii
A Springtail (Dicyrtomina saundersii) in a water trough on the Alwins Field allotments. This is not its natural habitat, it was probably blown there by the wind, but seemed quite happy.
Springtails are very tiny creatures - this one was about 1.5 mm long; they recycle dead leaves, etc. No-one is sure whether they are insects, crustaceans or something else.

Green Alkanet
Green Alkanet in flower in the churchyard at All Saints, Leighton Buzzard, 3 January 2020.
