Chinese water deer
A Chinese Water Deer (showing his tusks) near the Grand Union Canal, 17 December 2018. His mate was nearby.
These deer are breeding successfully along the Ouzel and the canal since they were released (or escaped) from collections years ago.

Southern Hawker dragonfly larva
Cleaning out the garden pond turned up a few of these creatures. This is a larva of a Southern Hawker dragonfly. It is a fierce predator in the pond and will emerge next summer. Alwins Field, 9 December 2018.





Feral Pigeon
This is one of the latest brood of Feral Pigeons that frequents our garden. This one has a particularly odd head pattern.

One of the rooks that visit our garden - this one is unusual in having several light grey feathers that it has had for several years.

Grey Squirrel
Grey Squirrels have started to visit our garden more lately, often competing with the rooks for food. This one can see us looking at him. Alwins Field, 1 December 2018.
